In Hold Person 5e uses, you choose a humanoid, the target must be within the range. Target should have to be succeeded in his Wisdom saving throw, Otherwise, the target will be paralyzed for the duration of one minute, whereas the target can make another Wisdom saving throw at the end of his every turn, on the success the spell ends. At Higher Levels when Hold Person is in action using a spell level of the third level, you can target one additional humanoid for each slot level above the second level, with the range of 30 feet the target should be in.
